FireFly Power Continues… Fueled By Women
FireFly Film & Video, Inc, now the only women owned Production Company in Utah and likely one of the few in the US, is celebrating its 20th year in business. Founded in 1994 as FireFly Productions by a group of Logan, Utah business men, LaRee Waldron was recruited to head up creative and operations of the company. Waldron left Thiokol Corporation as senior producer in their visual productions division after 13 years to join FireFly as a partner. She worked on many programs for the Space Shuttle and defense projects, and was a critical part of the Challenger Investigation team. FireFly expanded very quickly with Waldron’s talents and skills as a producer, director, writer and editor. In 2004, Ronda Thompson, former executive director of the American West Heritage Center, brought her talents to FireFly as a partner, producer, and business manager. FireFly is now owned by LaRee Waldron and Ronda Thompson and for the past ten years has operated as a wholly women owned business. Even the editor is a woman. “We always tell clients there is a lot of estrogen in our company,” said LaRee Waldron. “But we are a great team and it works really well for us.”
In 2007, they opened Firefly Film & Video, Inc in Nashville, Tennessee as their interests expanded to include more entertainment type media including music videos, TV pilots and films. In 2011, they combined the two entities into FireFly Film & Video, Inc and still work in both states and around the country.
FireFly hosts a creative team that gives clients an innovative approach to film and HD video productions. They create high quality, impactful media that wows their audience. They’ve served clients from many areas besides Utah and Tennessee including Pennsylvania, California, Colorado, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Texas and Canada.
“We’ve worked with FireFly for several years to produce a variety of videos for us. They’re exceptional at coming up with great concepts that tie into your strategy or theme, fleshing those ideas out and then executing on them.” Said Bill Zinke, Vice President of Marketing for Chem-Dry, a division of Harris Research located in Nashville, Tennessee and Logan, Utah.
“The end result is that their videos absolutely deliver! They’re consistently able to capture the essence of the message while also creating an emotional connection with the audience. And maybe best of all, they’re really good people, committed to excellence in all that they do and genuinely a pleasure to work with.”
Firefly has worked with many celebrities over the years including Bill Cobbs, Steve Young, Linda Pearl, Jillian Michaels, Olivia Newton John, Barry Gibb, Tanya Tucker, LONESTAR, Dan Truman from Diamond Rio and they are gearing up for an exciting opportunity to be announced later.
